The Sudden Infant Death Syndrome Foundation of Washington was established in 1961 as a statewide non-profit organization. Starting in 2007, the Foundation is now operating under a new banner: the Northwest Infant Survival Alliance (NISA) / SIDS Foundation of Washington. Research from the last 20 years has revealed important new information about how to prevent SIDS by avoiding certain risk factors, and as the NISA name indicates, we are expanding our efforts to prevent these tragedies through education. Even though our name has changed, we are continuing our mission to help families who have suffered a terrible loss of an infant to SIDS.
The NISA-SIDS Foundation is supported solely by memorials, public donations, special events, and limited grant-writing.
