American Academy of Pediatrics Healthy Child Care America Back to Sleep Campaign The
Healthy Child Care America Back to Sleep Campaign is a an effort to
unite child care, health, and National Sudden Infant Death Syndrome
(SIDS) partners across the United States to reduce the incidence of
SIDS in family child care homes and center-based child care programs.
Back to Sleep Campaign The
Back to Sleep campaign is suitably named for its recommendation to
place healthy babies on their backs to sleep. Placing babies on their
backs to sleep reduces the risk of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS),
also known as "crib death." This campaign has been successful in
promoting infant back sleeping to parents, family members, child care
providers, health professionals, and all other caregivers of infants.
The CJ Foundation for SIDS The
CJ Foundation for SIDS is a national charitable organization dedicated
to recognizing the special needs of the SIDS community through funding
SIDS research, support services and public awareness programs.The
Foundation hopes to increase public awareness of SIDS and to contribute
to a future in which no parent is faced with the tragedy of losing a
loved one to SIDS.
First Candle First
Candle is a national nonprofit health organization uniting parents,
caregivers and researchers nationwide with government, business and
community service groups to advance infant health and survival.
The National SIDS & Infant Death Project IMPACT The
National SIDS & Infant Death Project IMPACT supports state and
local infant death programs through sharing information, promoting
policy and legislative changes, building upon resources, and fostering
partnerships and communication.
National Sudden Infant Death Resource Center The
National Sudden Infant Death Resource Center (NSIDRC) serves as a
central source of information on sudden infant death and on promoting
healthy outcomes for infants from the prenatal period through the first
year of life and beyond. National Institute of Child Health and Human Development The National Institute of Child Health and Human Development provides information on safe sleep position for babies and reducing the risk of SIDS. Consumer Product Safety Commission The Consumer Product Safety Commission provides information about crib safety guidelines.
FOR PROFESSIONALS British Columbia Coroners Service, Child Death Review Unit The
Child Death Review Unit (CDRU) of the BC Coroners Service reviews the
deaths of all children age 18 and under in B.C. The intent of these
reviews is to better understand how and why children die, and to use
those findings to prevent other deaths and improve the health, safety
and well-being of all children in British Columbia.
MCH Alert: Focus on Infant Mortality MCH
Alert: Focus on Infant Mortality is developed by the Maternal and Child
Health Library in collaboration with the National Sudden Infant Death
Resource Center.
National MCH Center for Child Death Review The
National Center for Child Death Review is a resource center for state
and local CDR programs, funded by the Maternal and Child Health Bureau.
It promotes, supports and enhances child death review methodology and
activities at the state, community and national levels.
National Sudden Infant Death Resource Center: Professional Resources The NSIDRC provides links, training materials, news, events, and other publications relevant to SIDS/SUID professionals.
